Saipan entry requirements

Saipan is a U.S. territory. Although travelers holding Hong Kong SAR passports, BNO or Taiwan passports can enjoy visa-free benefits, there are many things that need to be paid attention to when entering Saipan. All passengers must fill out the ETA and customs declaration forms online before departure. If they are traveling with children, they must bring the child’s birth certificate or notarized statement. Please read the following precautions carefully before setting off!

  1. Tourists holding Chinese passports and Hong Kong SAR passports, but without US visas:
    Starting from October 1, 2024, eligible G-CNMI VWP travelers and Chinese citizens can start applying for G-CNMI ETA using the following link: https://g-cnmi-eta.cbp.dhs.gov
    During the 60-day transition period, paper Form 1-736 will still be accepted, and the form will be printed and signed. The paper version will only be presented to customs officials upon entry;
    From November 30, 2024, eligible G-CNMI VWP passengers and Chinese citizens after 12AM (estimated arrival time) must hold an approved G-CNMI ETA.
    Airlines will deny boarding to passengers without an approved G-CNMI ETA, and CBP will stop accepting paper 1-736s. Applicants are advised to apply at least 5 days before travel
  2. Hong Kong SAR Passport (HKSAR) and British National (Overseas) Passport (HKBNO) holders are required to present their Hong Kong Identity Card when entering Saipan, so travelers are advised to bring the above documents
  3. Tourists holding Chinese passports and holding US visas with a maximum validity period of ten years (ten years) of B1/B2, B1 and B2 do not need to fill in the 1-736 form and ETA. They only need to complete the EVUS electronic visa update before departure;

  4. The passport is valid for more than 190 days from the end of the trip (the passport must have at least 3 blank pages).
  5. Print copies of the air ticket electronic ticket itinerary and hotel accommodation confirmation must be carried (English version).
  6. If you have renewed your passport and the valid US visa is in the old passport, you must bring both the old and new passports when entering Saipan.
  7. Guests who have been denied a visa to the United States cannot use the visa exemption policy and must obtain a U.S. visa before entering the country.
  8. Minors (under 18 years old):
    ・If traveling with both parents, please bring the original birth certificate
    ・Both parents (guardians) are not traveling together: the original Chinese and English “Power of Attorney” notarized by a Chinese notary and authorized by both parents and a copy of the passports of both parents must be presented;
    ・Parents (guardians) traveling alone: ​​The non-traveling party needs to provide a paper statement and have it notarized.
    ・If the minor has only one parent with legal custody, a court judgment, birth certificate indicating that there is only one parent, or death certificate and other relevant documents are required.
  9. Pregnant women are not subject to visa-free entry restrictions in Saipan. If they are refused visa due to concealment, they will be responsible for the consequences.
  10. Special circumstances: Tourists who have been to Iran, Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Sudan, Libya, Yemen, North Korea and other countries must hold a US visa before entering Saipan

*The Northern Mariana Islands exempts tourists from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan from entry visas. Travel agencies do not have the right to allow entry. If notified by the US immigration officer that they do not meet the entry conditions, the cost of air tickets for repatriation to the place of origin and stay at the Immigration Bureau will be included. All costs incurred during the period, including supervision fees, are borne by the tourists themselves. *
